Hey all, It has been a bit since our last blog post. Why? We have been working on new and exciting things. It takes a ton of time and patience to get the hang of anything new, but ya know what they say… “If it is worth doing it takes time” So what have we been up to in our eBay store? Well we have since last blog have increased our store level above basic to premium…the next one will be an anchor store. What have we found so far that we are flipping? Wilson branded women’s jacket This past weekend we decided to hit our local haunts and found some great yard sales We had to pass up several huge paintings..they turned out to be just prints. Truthfully I would have bet the frame would have been worth more than the picture that was housed in it. So we found a Wilson branded women’s jacket, Leather and Suede. To be totally honest we bought it for $8 and it will be priced for no less than $80 These people were lovely and honestly we would have bought more, they were a sheer delight to listen to as they chatted. Total price of our purchase at said cost, $10 at least…after the price gouging….$3 BULL OF THE DAY! We went to another sale…honestly, if you are dealing with a person at a sale and they are making the rules as they go, when they jack the price up as you are shopping, then politely put everything down and walk away. In our case what had happened is there were no signs posted and this lady was making deals with this older gentleman, as we were browsing around at the items she had out. There was a table of clothes…nick nacks and just a mess of things strewn on a table, no order just literally like a box of things were thrown out on a table top. Ok no big deal, we don’t mind digging.
We were scoping through children’s books and then at clothing. We had a few things in our arms and then it began. As we were digging in, she had said all clothing $0.25 each…fair enough for us…then as we start to toss things over our arms in anticipation of purchase…we had grabbed up several articles that she started changing the price on as we were going.
No big deal, we were slightly irritated but were still going to buy. Several items were in not the best of condition and some were in very good condition. Had it been something that was worth more we would have paid it, no questions asked but some of the trashiest things she was expecting wayyyyy more than would have been worth. Cut off jeans with stains for $5…oh hell no. Then as we were about to finalize our purchase she began to change the prices again. At that point we looked at each other, Holley and I and decided we were done. Total price of our purchase at said cost, $10 at least…after the price gouging….$3 We took away 3 pairs of shorts and a few children’s books.
Side note to readers: If you are going to have a sale, there are a few ideas to make your life and the life of your customer a lot easier!
Price accordingly…If it is a pile of clothes…take out the ones you want priced higher and put in a separate area! If you are making deals with only people you know, then decline to another that you don’t know. Let your people you know shop a day early. Customer service is a must. Be nice and know how to do math, if you are asking your customer how much change they get back, you don’t need to have a sale…you need to have an education. ( Not being rotten but seriously this happened at the above mentioned sale. Ok rant over…. The reason we spent $80 at one sale… Ok so last stop in our about an hour and a half worth of retail therapy. There is a local little consignment store/ thrift store/ flea market not to far from our house of crazy kids. We pop in and lo and behold… first thing seen was an old Kool-Aid pitcher. Great condition no problems. The table was on half price sale (Note to reader- If it is crazy hot…wait until afternoons when people are ready to just be done) We picked up this little gem for $4 going sale price of just the pitcher is about $10-14 not a huge profit but still profit none the less for the kid at heart. We meandered more around as there were several booths and I had found a cute little batch of sandwich cooler bags, many of them $.50 for a set of 4, we nabbed up the 6 stacks she had and trotted around to the other booths. The one that caught our attention had several multiples of items, some were computer related, some were game related, we started digging. Holley came across some wand type scanners pocket sized and that are portable.
So yeah that’s it. We found several more items but if you want to know more about what all we found. Pop over to our store and add us to your favorite seller list. We keep the shipping prices real…we keep our customers happy and above all we want to make you the best deal possible and keep you coming back for more. If you want to know more about what we do and how we have turned this into a lucrative business. Pop down to the comments section and leave us a shout out. We would love to share with you how we do what we do. Keep being awesome and thank YOU again for stopping in and reading. Love and appreciate you Linda and Holley
